LCCI says industry losing export orders

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tuesday urged the government to save both the trade and industry from a total collapse in the wake of worst-ever power crisis that has gripped the country. “It is a national loss to the country in the shape of loss of export orders, closure of business houses, industrial units and laying off workers.” In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali said as there was no immediate solution in sight, the government should at least waive off accrued interest/markup and other related government levies to ensure some breathing space to the manufacturing sector as is being .Full Press Release >>

Amendments to Trade Organisations Ord suggested

The DGTO decision to form Trade Organisations Advisory Council to consider the proposals of trade bodies is an endorsement of the stated stance of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry that the Trade Organisations Ordinance 2007 is repugnant to the objective of chambers and trade bodies and has failed to deliver so it should be repealed or reimplemented after due amendments. This was stated by LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali in a statement issued here Wednesday. History of LCCI:
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established by the businessmen and industrialists of Northern India in 1923 under the name of "Northern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry". In 1947 on creation of "The Islamic Republic of Pakistan", its name was changed to "West Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry". In 1960, the present name, "The Lahore chamber of commerce and Industry" was adopted. Today, the chamber stands out as the First ISO-Certified Chamber of Pakistan
