LCCI for major role of the local companies in CPEC

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry Saturday once again voiced-over for role of the local manufacturers in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project to give much-needed boost to the local industries.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Abdul Basit and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan said that local industries should be given level playing field to get benefits and should be involved in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

They said that whole benefits and control to the outer companies would be a sheer justice to the local industries that are already working in challenging conditions. They said that local manufacturers should not be ignored at any cost while granting incentives to the Chinese companies. They said that equal opportunities to the local manufacturers would help industrial expansion in the country.

The LCCI office-bearers said that projects like CPEC has the capacity to support the local economy by increasing the demand for locally manufactured goods. He said that such increase in demand will not only allow full utilization of the existing manufacturing potential, but will also encourage the manufacturers to increase their capacity. They said that this would generate much needed employment opportunities, and would also contribute a sizeable amount of revenue to the national exchequer.

Meanwhile, a Chinese delegation of Shandong visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and had a detailed discussion with the LCCI Abdul Basit and Vice President Muhmammad Nasir Hameed Khan on two-way trade and investment. The LCCI President Abdul Basit said that Lahore has a special significance being the hub of business activities in Punjab. Both public and private sector organizations are striving hard to fully exploit the trade and investment potential of Punjab in collaboration with foreign investors. He said that China is first choice for Pakistani businessmen to join hands for joint ventures. He hoped that the state level cooperation between two countries will bring greater fortune to both of us.
