Membership Department:

Introduction:

Membership Department is one of the most important departments of LCCI. It is responsible for processing of new membership applications, renewals of membership, issuance of LCCI member cards, attestation of certificate of origin, attestation of commercial documents, issuance of visa recommendation letters, issuance of visa invitation letters and co-ordination in conducting annual election of LCCI.

Eligibility:

The prospective member is a sole proprietorship or a partnership firm or an association of persons or a company holding national tax number and sales tax registration, if applicable, in the name of the business concern;

The prospective member’s business fits within the defined business scope or area of jurisdiction of District of Lahore as provided in the  memorandum and articles of association and under the licence granted by the Federal Government;
3
The application for grant of membership shell be proposed and seconded by existing members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
4
The prospective member has no criminal conviction; and
5
The prospective member has a valid national tax number and sales tax registration, if applicable;

Membership may be cancelled or disqualified, on the grounds provided under the trade organization’s memorandum and articles of association, if the member breaches any provision of the Trade Ordinance;

The membership shall be renewable on annual basis subject to fulfillment of following conditions, namely:-
 
Payment of prescribed subscription within the time stipulated in the memorandum and articles of Association, which shall not be later than 31st March every year;
 
Proof of filing return of income tax and sales tax, if applicable, for the preceding year

Classes of Membership:

There shall be two classes of memberships in Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry:-

Corporate Class:

A member of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is either a body corporate or a multinational corporation with its head office or branch office in Pakistan or a sales tax registered concern having annual turnover of Rs. 50 million or above shall be called “Corporate Member”; and

Associate Member:

A member of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is not a body corporate or a multinational or a sales tax registered business concern having annual turnover of Rs. 50 million or above shall be called “Associate Member”

Membership Procedure:

Proprietorship:

Written application on firm’s letterhead addressed to the secretary general LCCI for grant of membership
Completely filled in membership form
 
Photocopy of N.I.C
Photocopy of national tax number certificate of proprietor as business individual
Photocopy of sales-tax registration number certificate (if applicable)
Original bank certificate in the name of business applied for membership.

Partnership:

A written application on firm/company’s letterhead addressed to the Secretary General LCCI for grant of membership
Completely filled in membership form
Copy of N.I.C. of all Partners
Photocopy of national tax number certificate of firm/co and all partners of the partnership concern.
Photocopy of sales-tax registration number certificate (if applicable)
Original bank certificate in the name of business applied for membership
Copy of partnership deed executed on Rs.500/ stamp paper duly attested by Notary Public
Copy of incorporation certificate other than A.O.P

Private Limited or Limited Company:

A written application on company’s letterhead addressed to the Secretary General LCCI for grant of membership
Completely filled in membership form
Copy of N.I.C. all directors
Copy of national tax number certificate of the company
Copy of sales-tax registration number certificate (If applicable)
Original bank certificate in the name of business applied for membership
Copy of memorandum and articles of association
Copy of incorporation certificate
Note:

Authority letter must be provided in the name of person authorized for collection of documents on behalf of chief executive/ directors (only for partnership, private limited, and limited concerns)
Over writing or cutting in the membership form will not be acceptable.
Signature on card should match with CNIC signature
Any change in particulars of business may please be intimated to the Chamber to up-date the record
The membership form can be obtained on payment of Rs. 100/-

Requirements for Issuance of Certificate of Origin and Attestation of Commercial Documents:

Membership of the firm/company should be valid.
Copy of invoice / bill of landing / airway bill is compulsory.
Documents should be stamped and signed by the authorized representative of the firm

Issuance of Visa Recommendation Letter:

The form prescribed by the Chamber will be used for applying for the issuance of recommendation letter for visa to visit abroad. Such request should be for business trips and not for any other purposes.

The prescribed form shall be filled in and signed by the applicant who is proceeding abroad and shall duly be signed and forwarded by the authorized representative of the member firm/company recorded as such with LCCI.

Application form shall be attached with:
 
Financial Standing of the member firm or company being a proprietor, partner or director for not less than two years.
 
No application shall be entertained through agent or legal advisor except from private limited, limited and multinational concern.
 
Undertaking to return within the period stipulated in the prescribed form of the LCCI.
 
Documentary evidence for proposed visit i.e. bonafide fax/invitation letters for import/export/inspection/negotiation in original.

Separate procedure will be adopted for visit of owners, partners or directors of the member firms and the salaried senior executives. The Chamber shall not entertain applications concerning nominees being sent abroad as representatives or agents on behalf of member firms.

Incase of Executive of the member firm a certificate indicating their designation, period of service, (minimum three years) monthly salary and copies of paid tax challan shall also be provided along with the application.

The office bearers of the Chamber may interview any applicant, if they so desire, while considering the application. The members of the Executive Committee of LCCI may make recommendations for interview to the office bearers.

The Executive Committee of the Chamber authorizes the President and the office bearers of the LCCI for fully and speedily meeting the genuine needs of the member firms. However, they exercise their discretion and take necessary measures so that this important facility of the Chamber is not misused in any way and its image is not thereby spoiled.
